Outcomes of course:
Students have an opportunity to realize their potential in the selected sport according to their fitness requirements. Beginners will learn a basic climbing technique. Based on this, they will be able to individually practise the easy boulders, move across the climbing wall and develop their strength in the boulder centre using the equipment such as a rope, ladder, and horizontal bar. Advanced boulderers will learn how to master pre-marked boulders, train climbing stamina using the entire wall space, build new boulders.
Personal equipment that boulderers need are special shoes "climbing shoes" (either your own, or in limited quantities they can be hired for a fee/one use. It is allowed to use tapes and only solid or liquid magnesium (gel, beads). It is advisable to take your own towel as you do for the fitness gym.
Recommended optional components of the program:
Summer and winter courses - mountain biking accompanied with bouldering; autumn alpine training camp - fitness training of athletes.
Special lessons for students interested in sports representation of BUT at university championships, AM of Czech Republic and Czech Academic Games.
Specific positions among the events are occupied by bouldering league and the competition Boulder Open Air.
Extended tuition are lessons of recreational and fitness climbing labelled as leisure activities, where the students can attend group lessons of bouldering - a single course of 10 lessons or the access to the outside boulder centre in SA PPV for training.
Course contents (annotation):
Bouldering is climbing without collateral to reach relatively safe heights (5 meters). Bouldering is a climbing discipline that excels in dynamic motion, variety of positioning of body parts and the work with trainee’s own weight and centre of gravity. Beginners will learn a basic climbing technique so that they will be able to individually practise easy boulders, move across the climbing wall and develop their strength in the boulder centre using the equipment such as a rope, ladder, horizontal bar and campus. Advanced boulderers will learn how to master pre-marked boulders, train climbing stamina using the entire wall space, build new boulders and train themselves on the above-mentioned equipment.
Bouldering is a basis of year-round preparation for all climbing disciplines; it is also an appropriate tool for practising strength, flexibility and agility for other types of sports.

Method and criteria of assessment:
Credits - active participation in the tutorials. Two unexcused absences are allowed.
Introduction to safety precautions and signing the agreement to the terms of tuition, introduction to the course contents and the accompanying program.
Basic types of holds and their grips: positive, side and bottom holds, friction holds, grip, bump, strip, handle, closed and open grips, etc. Foot holds: perpendicular to the wall, on the edge, friction foot holds, the use of the heel, toe, and a combination of foot holds
Bouldering technique: climbing movement. Climbing step: preparation phase, main phase, final phase. Practising of technique: balance, rule of three fixed points, right-left balance. Body position: goat leg, high up, getting on the heel, wide straddle, frog stance, "No hand rest," hips turning.
Working with the centre of gravity, balancing the body, back-pressure technique, structure climbing, replacing the legs, balancing on footholds, correct body posture, calf raises on toes
Climbing in vertical and cantilever profile, climbing in the corner, on the edge, in the overhang, traverses.
Fitness and stamina training for climbing movements, change of pace when climbing, climbing blindfold, perception of the position of feet and arms, climbing in pairs, how to rest while climbing. Dynamic actions.
Games on the climbing wall: games to develop climbing skills, strength, endurance and speed training for climbing movement
Credits are awarded in the 13th unit.
Objective of the course:
Compensation for unilateral sedentary job, readiness in strength, strength endurance and technique of climbing. Bouldering provides training of climbing technique, strength, endurance and mental control that can be applied to the actual climbing on the climbing wall or in the terrain.
Definition of controlled tuition and the way of its implementation and compensation for absences:
Credits - controlled attendance, registration of attendance in the attendance sheets. Active participation in the lessons. Two unexcused absences are allowed. Compensation for absence only within bouldering lessons after the previous consultation with the teacher and with the agreement of the teacher (free capacity of the wall). Another option of compensation is in the block tuition (May and June), or participation in courses and events.
